Video Wall User Manual

Welcome to the Video Wall User Guide.

Video Wall Overview

This plugin will save you copious amounts of time creating walls for video, photo, and other graphic elements. Video and other types of walls have become an industry standard in a array of broadcast design projects for film, television and the Web. Also included are 9 television/flat screen styled frame graphics that will make your videos or other elements look like they are playing on a flat screen television or the retro style that is also included. They can be applied to the screens universally or create a custom frame and apply it. You have to create a "solid" in your timeline and apply the Video Wall effect to it. You can also apply it to an "Inner Comp".

Sources

Layer Selection Method

You can select source materials for your wall in 3 ways. Manual, Automatic, and Inner Comp
Manual: For this to work you need to put your source materials in the timeline and shut off the "eye". Open "Layers" under "Layer Selection Method" and select which layers/elements you want in your wall.

There are 20 sources you can pick from. If you want more than 20 elements in your wall choose Inner Comp for the Layer Selection Method.

Automatic: In this method whatever elements are in your timeline will automatically be included in the wall.

Inner Comp: In this method you put all your source material in a precomp and you put the precomp in a new project. You select the precomp and apply Video Wall under Effects in the application menu.

Then open the effect window and choose Inner Comp. The rest of the settings work as usual.

Columns & Rows

This controls how many rows deep and columns wide your wall will be. The limit for each is 100. The number of source elements you will be able to use in your wall and their type, small photos or HD videos, etc, will depend on the power of you computer.

For large walls consider making smaller versions of your video. Again it depends on the power of your computer and how much ram you have.

Wall Position

This moves the position of the wall in an X & Y space.

Global Scale

This control scales your wall.

Grid Settings

Screen Width & Height

Unlike Global Scale which allows you to scale your wall in an X & Y space at the same time, this control lets you scale the X & Y individually.

Gap X & Y

Universally put a gap between the individual screens in in either or both the X and Y space.

Each setting goes up to 2000 points so you if you like you can animate your wall so all the elements come in from off screen on all four sides.

Align Horizontally and Vertically

A user has 3 choices for both horizontal and vertical positions, left, right, up, down and center.

Randomize

Source Order

This control will randomize how the wall elements appear in the wall grid and put each element in different positions. You set it at OFF or ON.

Source Time

This will randomize how long each element will stay in each position. The setting is in seconds.

Order & Size Random Seed

This control randomizes universally both the playing of the videos or jpegs so their position moves around within the grid.

Note: "Order and Size Random Seed" was misnamed. It should be "Order Random Seed" because it only affects the order. When we have fixed it we will send you a free update.

Screen Transform

Scale X & Y

Scale the individual screens universally in the X & Y space.

Note: Scale and rotation controls don't work individually, but you still set individual key frames for each parameter. Master Control Keyframes controls both the scale and rotation effects/settings and put them into motion. You can tweak scale and rotation effects universally by setting Master Control Keyframes.

Rotation

This control rotates the individual screens in the X, Y and Z positions in a 2D space.. It simulates a 3D space.

It includes a randomizing control for each rotation setting.

Note: Scale and rotation controls don't work individually. But you still set individual key frames for each parameter. Master Control Keyframes controls both the scale and rotation effects/settings and put them into motion. You can tweak scale and rotation effects universally by setting Master Control Keyframes.

Master Control

Once you have created setting/keyframes for rotation and scale under Screen Transformations use Master Control to tweak them all at once.

Frame Image

There is a drop down menu where you can choose from 9 television type graphics to frame each of your wall elements universally.

You can also create your own frame. Put it in the timeline and choose "Custom". Select the layer the frame is in using the drop down menu.

TV Frame: Fit in Frame

Offset X & Y

Within the television frame graphics you can move the wall elements universally, left, right, up or down or a combination of several directions.

Scale X & Y

Within the television frame graphics you can scale the wall elements universally in the X and Y space.
