Datamoshing With DAMAGE

by Steven Reeves

Datamoshing With DAMAGE

Datamoshing is the practice of intentionally using compression artifacts in digital video and animated GIFs. The image above is made to resemble a look created by a technique called "data corruption". This process usually involves manually offsetting the horizontal bands and changing hues within a hex editor.

Tools in the DAMAGE suite work great to recreate this effect in seconds! Try combining Artifact and Blockade to achieve a style similar to the above image.

Need an even faster look? Not to worry, we have a plethora of free presets available here. Try mixing different presets for an even more custom effect.
